"sparse guy" here. :)  Thanks for the feedback.  I often use vim myself, and I appreciate this fix.  Vim has support for numerous compiler output formats already, and I think the configuration you posted should become part of vim.  I will try to get it merged into vim.  If that doesn't work, I'll certainly ship a vimrc snippet with Sparse; however, getting it into vim instead has the advantage of working out of the box with no extra configuration needed.
