Heterotopic uterine transplantation by vascular anastomosis

I grabbed my trusty Google and went in search of the current state of the art in male fertility. That’s not the phrase I’m looking for. Men carrying fetuses, that’s what I was after. I didn’t find much. A paper entitled heterotopic uterine transplantation by vascular anastomosis in the mouse was published in the August 2002 edition of the Journal of Endocrinology which describes transplanting the uterus from one mouse into another. The press eventually picked this up in the summer of 2003 and spun it as a sign of things to come.

He says that it may even be technically possible one day to transplant a womb into a man, and use hormone injections to allow a pregnancy to succeed. BBC News Online
